"Medicine is the most humane of sciences, the most scientific of the humanities." Edmund Pelligrino, 1979
Medicine has long been seen as a dichotomous discipline seeking a balance between science and art, knowledge and wisdom, body and soul. In modern times, there has been a distinct imbalance in the delivery of medical education which is gradually being addressed. The recognition of the limits of biomedicine and the value of broader liberal arts exposure in understanding the human condition has helped humanistic aspects of education take root in medical curricula around the world.
The LKS Faculty of Medicine, HKU, is very pleased to extend a warm invitation to our friends and colleagues to join us in exploring the areas of medical humanities, ethics and professionalism, spirituality and health and their integration into the medical curriculum.
