  • Abstract
The Common Curriculum for Healthcare Professional Education (CCHPE), implemented in August 2023 across Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy programs at the National University of Singapore, represents a transformative shift in preparing graduates for collaborative practice. Aligned with Singapore’s Healthier SG strategy, the CCHPE breaks down traditional professional silos by fostering interprofessional collaboration (IPC) through shared learning experiences. The curriculum is structured around a few key pillars: socio-ecological determinants of health, professional identity and teamwork, data and digital literacy.

Early evaluation focuses on three areas: (1) development of interprofessional competencies, (2) socialisation among students from different disciplines, and (3) growth in empathy and compassion. Preliminary findings suggest improved teamwork attitudes, though challenges remain in standardizing assessments.

Designed through cross-faculty collaboration, the CCHPE integrates community-based interprofessional activities (e.g., patient home visits) and blended learning to reinforce collaborative skills. This initiative addresses entrenched hierarchies and equips future healthcare professionals with the team-based mindset needed for Singapore’s evolving, preventive, and digitally driven healthcare system.

For educators, the CCHPE offers a model for integrating IPC into core curricula, emphasizing patient-centered care, data literacy, and adaptive learning strategies to meet future healthcare demands.
