An essential role of a doctor which is under-emphasised in the medical curriculum is that of an educator. Yet, elements of teaching inevitably emerge in our interactions with patients, colleagues, and fellow students. After-all, “doctor” is derived from the Latin word “docere” - “to teach”. What makes a good teacher and how do you develop the skills to become one? How can you support your peers in their learning throughout medical school?

Join us for a special panel sharing on practical teaching tips and techniques featuring speakers Professor CS Lau (Medicine), Dr Kendrick Shih (Ophthalmology), Dr Tomasz Cecot (Biomedical Science (Anatomy)), Dr Mei Li Khong (Biomedical Sciences) and moderated by Dr Julie Chen (Family Medicine and Primary Care). Hear our pre-clinical and clinical teachers from HKUMed share their experience as teachers in their respective fields and their advice on:

  • Small-group tutorial facilitation
  • Teaching clinical reasoning and how to correlate pre-clinical knowledge with clinical applications
  • Teaching clinical skills and difficult subjects such as anatomy
