Online learning has created great challenges to students because of the increased autonomy and responsibility demanded of them. In addition, the physical absence of instructors and peers could lead to students’ decreased motivation in learning, lack of belonging, and sense of isolation. To succeed in online learning, students need to be self-regulated learners who can actively plan, control, and manage their learning actions. This seminar will focus on discussing instructional scaffoldings that could support students’ development of self-regulated learning strategies, such as goal setting, environmental structuring, task strategies, time management, help seeking, and self-evaluation.
