On behalf of the The Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong, we warmly welcome you to the Frontiers in Medical and Health Sciences Education 2016, November 4-5, 2016. The theme of this year’s conference is “Promoting Excellence in Assessment”.

The principal goal of medical and health education is to nurture young medical and healthcare professionals who will subsequently serve the general public with professional skills, knowledge and devotion. New educational approaches are constantly being proposed, but their success can only be ascertained through the process of assessment. Assessment in medical and health education is perhaps the most complicated and challenging issue facing all medical education institutions. What should be assessed in a medical and health curriculum? How should assessments should be designed and executed? How accurate are our current assessment tools? These are just some of the crucial questions that will be dissected and discussed in our conference. We look forward to drawing on your expertise and experience to a systematic exploration of how assessment could drive student learning versus its traditional function to measure academic performance.

This 2-day conference will provide stimulating and cutting edge plenary sessions, student forums, panel discussions, interactive workshops and free paper presentations. We do hope you can join us.
