Following Workshop 1, this session will focus on the practical aspects of scale development and validation by featuring researchers who will share their own work and experiences. This is an opportunity for participants to learn from real examples of how instruments have been conceptualised, developed, tested, and validated in educational and research settings.
The session is designed to inspire teachers and researchers who may be considering developing their own assessment tools, questionnaires, or research instruments. Through these shared experiences, participants will gain insight into the different stages of the process, including item development, pilot testing, data collection, and validation approaches. The discussion will also highlight common challenges encountered in practice and how these can be addressed.
By showcasing actual work from colleagues, the workshop aims to encourage scholarly exchange and stimulate ideas for future educational research, assessment innovation, and grant development. Participants will also have the opportunity to reflect on how sound scale development and validation practices can be applied in their own teaching and research contexts.
