BIMHSE and the Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) invite HKUMed teachers to a hands-on workshop on “Building Your Teaching Portfolio”.

At HKUMed, teaching is not just a duty but a core part of our professional identity. Our two-step Teaching Induction Framework is designed to support your development as an educator throughout your career:

• Step 1 – Foundational Level
  An introductory programme offered by TALIC that supports all new staff in achieving baseline teaching competence.
• Step 2 – Advanced Development Level
  A flexible, scaffolded pathway offered by BIMHSE that you can shape according to your evolving roles, interests, and aspirations as a teacher.

Within this framework, a teaching portfolio is a living document that grows with you. Rather than simply storing teaching materials, it helps you:

• Clarify and express your personal teaching philosophy
• Curate meaningful learning and assessment designs that you have created
• Capture evidence of your impact on students
• Document your innovations and professional development
• Reflect on how you are changing and improving as an educator over time

This workshop begins with building your own teaching portfolio. The portfolio you start here can accompany you throughout your career and be used as key evidence for Advance HE Fellowship and other forms of teaching recognition.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

• Recognise different types of portfolios and choose a format that fits your values, context, and goals
• Draft key components of your own portfolio, including a first version of your teaching philosophy
• Identify concrete strategies and evidence to demonstrate your educational impacts on students and programmes
• Structure and further develop your portfolio to strengthen your case for Advance HE Fellowship and other forms of professional recognition

This workshop is practical and dialogic. You will have dedicated time to write, discuss, and receive feedback in a supportive community of colleagues who are committed to their teaching.
