STaR Programme

As a joint initiative of the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education (BIMHSE), Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, and Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC), the innovative Student Teaching and Reflection (STaR) Programme aims to recognise and acknowledge valuable contributions made by undergraduate students in peer teaching activities.

Tripartite Medical Education Conference 2023

Organized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong, the conference has brought together local and overseas medical experts, including representatives from the Academy, the two local medical faculties and the Hospital Authority.

In recognition of Dr Pamela Pui-Wah Lee (Clinical Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine)'s commitment to knowledge exchange extends HKU’s reputation well beyond academia, reaching out to broad communities of clinicians and patients within and outside Hong Kong, she received the prestigious Rosie Young 90 Medal for Outstanding Young Woman Scholar. HKU Medicine seized the winner of the Redesigning Student Learning Experience in Higher Education (RSLEIHE) Project Award Scheme 2021, organized by HERDSA Hong Kong Branch. Three HKU Med teams got awards: the winner & The People’s Choice Award, the first runner-up, and awards of merits.


Upcoming PBL Training Programme for New Tutors 2021-2022

A one-to-one PBL Training Programme for New Tutors has been running since 2003/04, with the aim of training staff members (including honorary appointees) who are unfamiliar with this approach to teaching and learning to become qualified PBL tutors.

Side Story: HKU Teaching and Learning Festival

HKU Teaching and Learning Festival 2021 was held in April and May 2021. The festival aims at celebrating the achievements of teaching innovation and development by HKU teachers. Teachers and students from LKF faculty of medicine were actively engaged in the festival.


New Phase of Interprofessional Education (IPE)

Interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP), like many other programmes, braced itself to creatively transition to online learning. This was our second year of implementing an Online Ten-Day Asynchronous and Synchronous IPE Model.
